Underwater activity and the Marine Oasis

In the waters around the borough of Caorle, approximately 1.5 miles from the Porto di Falconera, is the largest protected area in the Upper Adriatic, known as the Tegnùa di Porto Falconera. The area includes a series of rocky outcrops in three main clusters. These rock formations are well known to local fishermen and to members of the Caorle Diving Group, who urged that it be considered a Biologically Protected Area. The Veneto Regional Committee, at the request of Carole Borough Council, recognised the importance of the area as a ZTB (biologically protected area) under General Decree n° 2060 of 2nd July 2004, as was later confirmed by the Ministry for Agriculture and Forestry (MIPAF) under the Ministerial Decree of 16th December 2004.
